Maggie Thompson was thoughtful enough to share a wonderful scholarship opportunity for students who are caregivers for family members. The group that she is associated with advocates for students that have take on this important role in their family. To help support these students, the group has made scholarships available that can provide financial assistance. Read more about their work below:

Support all of your favorite non profit organizations as we kick off the giving season! Our organization is grateful for the support of our donors. Because of you we have been able to provide over $15,000 in scholarship and supplies!! Our mission and vision remains the same…supporting students reach their dreams! In 2019, we will continue to provide scholarships, school supplies including lap tops, college tour sponsorship, and currently working on endowing a scholarship at Xavier University of Louisiana!! Scholarship Opportunity!

The Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc has announced the Floretta A. Clancy Memorial Scholarship. 

The Floretta A. Clancy Memorial Scholarship was established in 1974 as a memorial to Mrs. Floretta A. Clancy, a charter member of the Fort Wayne Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Mrs. Clancy was a dedicated teacher who sought to enhance the lives of all who came under her tutelage.  It is the aim of the sorority that the scholarship be made available to students of African-American Heritage, male or female, who have demonstrated academic promise, community involvement, financial need, and are planning to pursue or continue education beyond high school at an accredited institution of higher education. This scholarship is intended for students in and/or from the Fort Wayne area only. Previous applicants, including previous recipients, may re-apply for this scholarship each year and be considered upon meeting all the requirements at the time of applying. Please note that students that are immediate family members (first and second generation) of financial and non-financial members of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. are not eligible to apply.  

Eligibility Criteria:

1.  Permanent resident of Fort Wayne

2.  High school senior or student matriculating at an accredited college or university

2.  African American heritage, male or female

3.  School and/or community involvement

4.  Demonstrates a financial need

Best Scholarship Search Platforms

Charmaine De Mesa who is with Reviews.com, a website dedicated to conducting data driven and unbiased research about topics that can help make an impact in people's lives, recently finished a study that is definitely valuable for students and families pursing college scholarships. Their goal is to raise awareness around the barriers that hinder students from pursuing their college education

In the course of their research, they found a common pain point among students was finding tools to sort through all the available scholarships to find those that would be most applicable to their situation. They spent over 200 hours researching 17 of the most popular scholarship search platforms that are currently available. The Emmary Butler Foundation has awarded its first two scholarships!

The Emmary Butler Foundation has named Chiara Logan and Taprea Cardaa as the first recipients of PACE scholarships. Chiara Logan is an Indiana University sophomore who dreams of becoming a Neonatologist. She was recently accepted into the Atlantis Project Fellowship Program where she will be able to shadow physicians for four weeks in Athens, Greece. Taprea Cardaa is a graduating senior at Governors State University pursuing a Bachelors of Health Science degree. Unfortunately, she was recently informed that no financial aid would be available during her final semester of school. Taprea is a hardworking student averaging above a B grade point average while also raising her daughter! She is grateful for our donation and has a graduation date set at May 20, 2017!! Fort Wayne newspaper acknowledges the Emmary Butler Foundation

On Dec 7, 2016 Dr. Butler, founder of the Emmary Butler Foundation, had the privilege to be interviewed by the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.  The article reflects upon Emmary's journey from being raised in the inner city to becoming a successful doctor.  The article also acknowledges the launch of her PACE to Success scholarship programing. North Side High School Medical Education Scholarship

  • WHAT: $1,000 scholarship
  • WHEN: Essay deadline Feb 28, 2017. Winner will be announced by March 31, 2017
  • WHO: 2017 graduating minority senior from North Side High school pursuing a degree in medicine
